Hartford Rising! A group of community and business leaders got together a couple months ago to establish connections and conversation on issues that impact Hartford residents. Through their meetings, a Community Bill of Rights was established. This Saturday, Hartford Rising is hosting the Hartford Community Bill of Rights forum
Americorps Hours
1.) On April 23, 2014, East Hartford High and High School Inc will be hosting "Lights out at the Lanes," a fundraiser for Junior Achievement. JA creates workshops and lesson plans throughout the year that allows students to get involved in economics and business. The program works with hundreds of students in Hartford each year providing insight into real world applications of economics and business. If you'd like to participate, it's $15.00/person to register to bowl (teams of 4-6 only). The $15.00 covers two rounds, shoe rentals, food, and non-alcoholic drinks. Please contact Chelsea Usher to register to bowl, or go to the LINK to donate.
2.) Jess Ranck is hosting a house meeting on April 24, 2014 from 5-7. This meeting is to start a conversation about how to create or expand current extracurricular / after school activities for students. The meeting will be from 5-7 with dinner provided at 48 Fairview Street, West Hartford, CT. Please RSVP with Jess Ranck if you plan to attend.
3.) On April 26, 2014 there will be an Earth Day Clean Up. Hartford Public High School (55 Forest Street) from 8 - 12. Contact Genna Waldvogel for more information.
4.) On May 3rd from 10-12 AM at the Hartford Catholic Workers at 18 Clark St. Hartford, CT 06120. Contact Matt Breglio to sign up. Each event is capped at 10 CMs.

Hands on Hartford

For MLK Day this year, many Hartford Corps Members worked with Hands on Hartford to help them with their food pantry. Some CMs also expressed interest in volunteering again. Color Run - Hartford 2014

Volunteer Opportunity -- Oct 19
"On October 19th, Hands On Hartford is hosting the Big Day of Serving in Connecticut, a one-day service project that engages young faith-based volunteers in transforming a neighborhood. We are seeking adult Project Assistant Volunteers to help run this day smoothly. Tasks include: Event set-up, helping prepare and distributing lunches, event breakdown, and assistance with project clean-up."
